Could someone please clarify the correct way to create single-select and multi-select attributes in version 2.3.5 and later?

I need to create product attributes with a predefined list of selectable values . However, I’m not sure which attribute type or configuration option should be used for this.

As I understand it, the attribute/list logic was changed starting with v2.3.5 , but I haven’t been able to find clear documentation explaining the new approach.

I’m also unable to find the List Option entity mentioned in the changelog. I’ve checked the available entities and attribute configuration options, but I cannot see where List Option is supposed to be created or managed.

Could someone please clarify:

  1. Which attribute type should be used for a single-select list?
  2. Which attribute type should be used for a multi-select list?
  3. Where and how should the predefined values for these attributes be created?
  4. Where can I find and manage the List Option entity mentioned in the changelog?
  5. Is there any documentation or example showing the recommended configuration for v2.3.5+?

Should I create a separate entity for each such characteristic? And if I have 200–500 such characteristics for the entire catalog, does that mean I’ll have just as many entities?

I’m using the Ukrainian UI , but instructions in English or any other language are perfectly fine.
Using Core v2.3.14, PIM v1.16.7.

  • Link — Used for a single-select list where each option is a link to a record from a foreign entity.
  • Multiple Link — Used for a multi-select list where multiple options are links to records from a foreign entity.
  • List — Used for a single-select list with predefined values.
  • Multi-value List — Used for a multi-select list with predefined values.
