Clarification on Configurable Product Management

Hi,
I am currently exploring the features of AtroPIM for managing our product catalog, and I have a question regarding the handling of configurable products (products with variants, such as a T-shirt available in different sizes and colors).

From the documentation, it seems that configurable products are supported, but I haven’t found a specific option to define a product as configurable. I did find the Product Child relationship feature, which allows assigning a product to another in a parent/child relationship, but this appears to be a simple hierarchy rather than a true variant management system.

I was expecting a feature that allows:

  • Defining variation attributes (e.g., color, size, material) at the parent product level.
  • Linking simple products to the configurable product based on the values of these variation attributes (similar to how it works in other PIM or e-commerce systems).

Could you please confirm if configurable product management with variation attributes is currently supported in AtroPIM?

If yes, could you kindly provide some guidance on how to properly configure these products and their variants?

Thank you very much for your support and assistance.

Hello,

In PIM, we usually manage product variants using variant-specific attributes. That is, you can’t create multiple color variants for the same product, but you can create child products, each with a different value for the Color attribute.
If we need to export products to a marketplace where the child products are to become variants of the main product (i.e., a separate product should not be created for each variant of a different color), we mark this attribute value as variant-specific (there is a special checkbox in the pim for this) and configure the feed so that the variants are created.
